VAT Free

Padders stocks a range of extra wide fit shoes suitable for those who are eligible to claim VAT relief due to chronic illness or disability. VAT exempt products are those specifically designed for medical conditions and intended for personal and domestic use. Customers can purchase our 6E and K fit Padders Plus+ shoes excluding the UK standard 20% VAT.

Claiming back VAT

Claiming tax relief on VAT exempt shoes is easy via the Padders website. Customers are required to provide details on their medical condition when purchasing their shoes to qualify for the lower price. This will be automatically deducted before the transaction is complete, making the shopping experience easy and hassle-free. If you are ordering your shoes over the phone, please advise the customer service representative of your condition and they will ensure your purchase is processed accordingly by sending out a VAT relief form which must be completed and returned before dispatch of goods.

Qualifying for VAT relief

For VAT purposes, a disability or chronic illness is described as:

  • A physical or mental impairment that affects your ability to carry out everyday activities, for example, blindness.
  • A condition treated as chronic sickness, such as diabetes.
  • A long-term illness.

You must be aware if you are eligible for VAT relief when purchasing your shoes or slippers on the Padders website as you will be asked to complete a declaration form. You can check the criteria for exemption laid out by the VAT office, consult Notice 701/7 reliefs for disabled people or contact the National Advice Service on 0845 302 0203 if you are unsure. Requests for VAT relief should be made at the time of ordering to ensure swift processing of your order.
